Jake was a few moments late this morning. Already a group of six or more students had gathered in the Welshimer Room of the Library, waiting to meet him. When he arrived with his owner/trainer Dr. Julia Wade (a former Milligan College professor), Jake quickly made up for lost petting time.
Jake is a certified therapy dog. He has been visiting Milligan College students in the Library during Final Exam Week each semester for the last couple years, to help relieve stress that can be associated with completing last minute assignments or taking final exams. Clearly, it’s a mutually beneficial arrangement!
If you missed Jake this morning, he will be returning tomorrow (Wednesday, May 6) morning from 10 AM to Noon.
Tomorrow, the Library will also be hosting free chair massages from 10 AM to 1 PM, offered by local massage therapists. This event is sponsored by C.O.O.L. Buffs (Connecting Others to Optimized Life), a student-led club focusing on holistic mental health and wellness.
If you just want a break from your studies, the Library has also set up a jigsaw puzzle station on Rev. P.H. Welshimer’s old desk, also in the Welshimer Room. And don’t forget free coffee and tea in the Library through Thursday at 5 PM (while supplies last). Your Library is here to help!
